Department Introduction

  Introduction

  Established in 2002, the Rehabilitation Medicine Department is a Guangdong Provincial Clinical Key Specialty, a Shenzhen Medical Key Discipline, and one of Shenzhen’s ”Top Ten Advantageous Key Discipline Clusters.” It has also been recognized as a“Shenzhen Medical Brand Discipline” and serves as the host institution for the Shenzhen Rehabilitation Medical Quality Control Center. The department is a National Standardized Training Base for Resident Physicians, a Chinese Rehabilitation Medicine Association Training Base for Severe Rehabilitation, a Guangdong Provincial Rehabilitation Nursing Specialist Training Base, and a Guangdong Provincial Rehabilitation Therapist Standardized Training Base. After decades of development, it has grown into a leading rehabilitation medicine center in South China, with a focus on early-stage, critical, and complex disease rehabilitation. It emphasizes precise functional impairment assessment and features specialized approaches such as“Wake the Brain,”“Strengthen the Heart,”  “Clear the Lungs,” and “Manage Chronic Diseases.”

  Specialty Highlights

  The department offers subspecialty outpatient clinics in geriatric rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation, orthopedic rehabilitation, and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, alongside a dedicated outpatient rehabilitation therapy room. The inpatient unit spans approximately 4,000 square meters, with 72 beds. Equipped with cutting-edge diagnostic and therapeutic tools such as surface electromyography, near-infrared imaging, CPET, and intelligent rehabilitation robots, the department is capable of comprehensive functional assessments and treatments for various disabilities.

  Key subspecialties include geriatric rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation, critical care rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, and musculoskeletal and sports rehabilitation. The department specializes in advanced treatments such as vegetative state arousal therapy, stroke-related cardiac rehabilitation, and complex orthopedic trauma rehabilitation.

  The department handles over 5,000 outpatient visits annually and admits more than 1,200 inpatients each year, solidifying its position as a leader in rehabilitation medicine in the region.
